Zusammenfassung
Die perkutane Megavolttherapie des Prostata- Carcinoms im Stadium C gehört heute zur schulmäßigen Behandlung (Klosterhalfen 1978). Die klinische Erfahrung zeigt, daß die Adeno-Carcinome der Prostata gegen Photonen (konventionelle Röntgenstrahlen; Telekobalt und hochenergetische Röntgenstrahlung = Megavoltstrahlung) relativ strahlenresistent sind und eine hohe Dosis zu ihrer Vernichtung benötigen (Bagshaw et al. 1967; v.d. Werf-Messing 1978; Franke 1980 a). Die Ursachen dafür liegen insbesondere in der Zellkinetik: Differenzierte Adeno-Carcinome haben eine wesentlich geringere Wachstumsrate und eine sehr viel längere Tumorverdoppelungszeit als mehr oder weniger undifferenzierte solide Tumoren. Während einer 6–8wöchigen perkutanen Megavolttherapie befinden sich während der täglichen Strahlenapplikation bei den hochdifferenzierten Tumoren nur relativ wenige Zellen in einer strahlenempfindlichen Zellteilungsphase (G2-M), im Gegensatz zu Tumoren mit höheren Mitoseraten (Malaise etal. 1973).
