Abstract

The structure of a solid solution can be studied only if the researcher succeeds in growing a single crystal. This is explained by the fact that organic crystals tend to crystallize in the monoclinic system and less frequently, in the orthorhombic system. We very rarely meet cubic, tetragonal, or hexagonal organic crystals; in those cases the investigation is certainly very convenient thanks to their simplicity. However, even this simplicity does not allow the elementary use of the X-ray powder method because of the large sizes of the unit cells.
