Zusammenfassung

Aphthosen sind rezidivierend auftretende, solitäre oder multiple entzündliche Epitheldefekte der Mundschleimhaut (Hornstein 1976). Man unterscheidet milde und schwere Formen. Sie können als benigne Form im wesentlichen auf die Mundschleimhaut beschränkt bleiben, oder aber als sog. maligne Aphthose mit generalisierten Krankheitserscheinungen einhergehen. Letztere Form wird — besonders in ihrer typischen Ausprägung mit Ulzeration im Genitalbereich und rezidivierender Iridozyklitis — als Morbus Behçet bezeichnet.
