Zusammenfassung
Die phänotypische Ähnlichkeit der Staphylokokken und Mikrokokken erschwert eine Unterscheidung dieser genotypisch sehr unterschiedlichen Mikroorganismen. In Tabelle 1 sind daher die wichtigsten biochemischen Merkmale zusammengefaßt, die eine eindeutige Abtrennung der Staphylokokken von den Mikrokokken gestattet. Das unterschiedliche Guanosin- und Cytosinverhältnis der Desoxyribonukleinsäure spricht für die genetische Verschiedenheit der beiden Gattungen (Kocur et al. 1971). Weitere Unterscheidungsmerkmale sind die chemische Zusammensetzung der Zellwand (Peptidoglycan und Zellwandteichonsäure; Schleifer u. Kloos 1976), die Fruktose-1,6-diphosphat(FDP)-aldolase und das Zytochrommuster. Die FDP-Aldolase ist ein Schlüsselenzym im Abbauweg der Glukose. Aufgrund ihres Reaktionsmechanismus unterscheidet man zwei Klassen von Aldolasen: Aldolase I reagiert mit dem Substrat unter Bildung einer Schiff-Base und wird vor allem bei Tieren und Pflanzen gefunden. Aldolase II ist ein metallabhängiges (Ca2+, Zn2+) Enzym und tritt bei Bakterien und Pilzen auf.
