Zusammenfassung

Der potentielle Einfluß von Steroidhormonen auf das biologische Verhalten des malignen Melanoms wurde auf Grund klinischer Beobachtungen bereits seit langem diskutiert. So war bekannt, daß vor der Pubertät die Inzidenz des Tumors überaus selten ist. Bei Frauen tritt er hingegen am häufigsten zu Beginn der Menopause auf. Eine rasche Disseminierung des Melanoms während der Schwangerschaft und spontane Regression nach der Entbindung sind beschrieben; andererseits haben Frauen eine bessere Krankheitsprognose als Männer.
