Abstract

Amorphous solids, chalcogenide glasses as well as tetrahedrally-coordinated amorphous materials, are characterized as a phase which is structurally rigid but possesses no long-range order, due to which their optical, electrical and structural properties are genarally smeared out in contrast to those of crystalline counterparts. It seems to be one of the reasons why some people hesitate to get into this field of amorphous semiconductors.
