Abstract
Post-renal modifications of the urine play very different roles among the major vertebrate groups. Generally, more important changes in the urine occur in lower tetrapods: amphibians and reptiles, but also in some fish urine is modified in the bladder. In mammals there are only small changes. Birds appear to occupy an intermediate position (Skadhauge 1977).
