Zusammenfassung
Seit dem zweiten Weltkrieg ist in alien industrialisierten Ländern eine außerordentliche Zunahme der kardiovaskulären Morbidität und Mortalität beobachtet worden. Ein ähnlich starker Anstieg war bei keiner anderen Todesursachengruppe, Krebs eingeschlossen, festzustellen. Herz-Kreislauf-Krankheiten rückten unter den Todesursachen an die erste Stelle. Diese Entwicklung war mit der Vorverlegung des Krankheitsbe-ginns in jüngere Jahrgänge verbunden und führte damit zu einem besonders ausgeprägten Morbiditätsanstieg im Erwerbstätigenalter.
