Abstract

Only few attempts have been made to study the magnetoresistance in single crystals of trigonal selenium [1,2]. MELL and STUKE published 1967 measurements of the magnetoconductivity. of thin platelets. They found a T-1,5 temperature dependence for the mobility μ, which they interpreted in terms of a normal acoustic deformation potential scattering. The magnetoconductivity was always quadratically dependent of the magnetic field strength B up to the highest used field 3 T. Later on they reported a T-1,1 dependence for the mobility in connection with studies on mixed Se-Te crystals [3]. CHAN and CHAMPNESS published 1974 room temperature results of the magnetoresistance in normal unilluminated filamentary samples [2]. Also they found a B2 dependence of the magnetoresistanee up to 2.7 T.
