Optical Activity, De Haas-Van Alphen-Oscillations and Conduction Band Parameters of Tellurium

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences ((SSSOL,volume 13))

Abstract

Both phenomena natural optical activity (o.a.) and De Haas-van Alphen-oscillations (D.H.v.A) in the interband Faraday effect produce a phase shift between the right- and left-handed polarized components of an incident electromagnetic wave and therefore a rotation of the plane of polarization. The first one without magnetic field the second one in a longitudinal magnetic field.
