Clinical experience in the treatment of gastrointestinal disease is described, based on data obtained from the Department of Clinical Cancer Chemotherapy, Research Institute for Tuberculosis and Cancer, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, where a large number of patients have been treated for malignant disease, and almost half of them for gastric cancer. The first half of this report discusses the clinical effects of cancer chemotherapy thus far in the department, and the second half reviews the past 15 years of its chemotherapy program.
