Strategies in Clinical Hematology

Abstract

During the past decade considerable progress has been made in the therapeutic management of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). Classification, staging, and other factors related to prognosis have been critically revised. New therapeutic strategies have been developed on the basis of successful simultaneous application of antitumor drugs. New agents have been synthetized which proved to be useful as second and third choice treatment compounds. Within the plan of a multimodality approach the value of radiotherapy became reassessed. Immunotherapeutic investigations were initiated. As a result of these numerous efforts the goal: to cure NHL patients has been set closer.
