Metal Oxides (Rock Salt Structure)

These crystals show a behavior very similar to that of alkali halides. Shell models with about ten parameters give generally good agreement with experimental data. Of particular interest is CoO because of its phase transition from the antiferromagnetic to the paramagnetic state.
