Abstract
The few measured mixed crystals are still waiting for a proper theoretical analysis. A tempting idea is the possible correlation to phonons in the perfect crystals by an interpolation scheme which considers the effect of symmetry breaking on high-symmetry phonons such as those at the L or X point in the BZ of rock salt lattice [18.5, 8]. Here, the understanding of the line-width seems of major importance.
