Peculiarities of Electron Spin-Lattice Relaxation of Rare-Earth Ions under Hydrostatic Compression of Crystals

Abstract

As a result of experiments under high hydrostatic pressure and low temperatures the data on the change of the ground state of rare-earth ions Ce3+, Tb3+, Nd3+ in crystallohydrates have been obtained. Temperature dependences of spin-lattice relaxation rates have been measured. Main changes of static and dynamic ion characteristics under pressure are mainly due to crystal potential deformation.
