Line Splittings Through Dipole-Dipole Interaction with Quadrupole Nuclei in High Resolution NMR Powder Spectra

Abstract

Fast magic angle sample spinning does not average out completely, even in the first approximation, the dipole-dipole interaction between a spin 1/2 and a spin >1/2 quadrupole nucleus. The remaining dipole-dipole interaction causes line broadening and line splittings in the high resolution NMR powder spectrum of the spin 1/2 nucleus.
