Spin-Lattice Relaxation of the VK-Center

Abstract

The spin-lattice relaxation (SLR) of VK centers in LiF, NaF, KC1, CaF2 and SrF2 has been investigated using the pulse saturation method. The SLR mechanisms can be understood by taking into account phonon-induced transitions between resonant molecular vibrational states, except for low temperatures, where presumably polariton excitation occurs.
