The Spin-Lattice Relaxation of Methyl Groups in Solids

Abstract

The influence of symmetry-restricted spin-diffusion on the spin-lattice relaxation of rapidly reorienting methyl groups in solids is considered. It is shown how the T1 Z-measurements and their interpretation can go wrong if this influence is not taken into account.
