Dynamic Nuclear Polarization of 7Li+ in Solutions of Free Radicals

Abstract

The collisional mechanics and transient complexation of 7Li+-ions with aromatic radical anions in ethereal solutions, and with nitroxide radicals in various solvents, have been studied by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). In the ion pair systems most of the 7Li DNP enhancements could be explained by an equilibrium transition between solvent separated and contact ion pairs. In the nitroxide radical systems the 7Li-polarization depends strongly on the polarity of the solvent and on temperature.
