Abstract

Based on a review of existing data on pre- and postoperative irradiation in operable non-small-cell lung cancer it is concluded that:
  1. 1.

Routine postoperative irradiation in operable non-small-cell lung cancer is not prolonging survival.

  2. 2.

Postoperative irradiation in operable lung cancers, even node positive should not be used routinely but only in controlled clinical trials, exploring its possible role alone or in combination with systemic therapies.
