Zusammenfassung
Am akuten Myokardinfarkt sterben 50% der Patienten innerhalb der ersten zwei Stunden, noch bevor sie ins Krankenhaus kommen. Eine wesentliche Verbesserung der Überlebenschance beim frischen Herzinfarkt ist also in erster Linie durch eine Herabsetzung der Zahl dieser frühen Todesfälle zu erreichen. Dagegen wird sich die Sterblichkeit im Krankenhaus, soweit funktionsfähige Intensivstationen vorhanden sind, mit ständig anwesendem Arzt, Monitorüberwachung, der Möglichkeit zur Defibrillation und zur Schrittmacherimplantation, nicht mehr wesentlich senken lassen.
