Abstract
In clinical psychiatry, male sexual impotence belongs to the “fringe areas” of psychiatric illnesses. As a result, systematic research into the etiology and development of therapeutic methods in this area have been neglected. Etiologic studies have been carried out only within the sphere of psychoanalytic research. Clinicopsychiatric research into sexual impotence has only been possible since the new concepts of behavioral psychology and the results of basic research into biologic-psychiatric problems have been available.
