Abstract

Since the first X-ray diffraction photographs of protein crystals by Bernal, Crowfoot and Hodgkin (39), X-ray crystallographic techniques for studying complex protein structures have been tremendously improved. This is amply illustrated by the detailed analysis of the structure of myoglobin by Kendrew and co-workers (231).
