Abstract
Because of its physical properties, water is uniquely suitable as a basic material for life, and forms a major constituent of all living cells. Water is generally abundant on the earth’s surface, but it may be locally scarce, and the reflexion of these facts upon the structure, function and distribution of terrestrial arthropods, is the concern of this book.
