Abstract

Fibrillar proteins can be defined in operational terms as “modular elements” endowed with the property of forming structures which may serve different functions in different cells or also in the same cell during its life cycle. According to this view, the function of microfilaments (MF) and microtubules (HT) does not only depend on their intrinsic properties but also on the cell-specific activity and requirements.
