Zusammenfassung

Noch vor wenigen Jahren schien das Ziel der klinischen Tumorimmunologie greifbar nahe: die Immundiagnose,. Immunprophylaxe und Immuntherapie maligner Erkrankungen. Der Nachweis tumorspezifischer Antigene in experimentellen Systemen (74), das Auftreten gegen sie gerichteter spezifischer körpereigener Immunabwehrreaktionen und schließlich die im Experiment erwiesene leichte Manipulierbarkeit dieser biologischen Vorgänge ließen keinen Zeifel daran aufkommen, daß die Diagnose, Prophylaxe und Therapie auf immunologischer Grundlage auch bei malignen Erkrankungen des Menschen nur eine Frage der Zeit sei. Dies um so mehr, als in den letzten Jahren bei fast allen untersuchten menschlichen Tumoren das Vorkommen von Tumorantigenen und Tumorabwehrreaktionen wahrscheinlich gemacht war (Tab. 1) (8, 9, 16, 29, 33, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 42, 49, 60, 61, 68, 69, 75, 86, 96, 97). Inzwischen wissen wir, daß tumorspezifische Antigene nicht immer streng tumorspezifisch sind. Man prägte daher den Ausdruck „tumorassoziierte Antigene“. Die Unterschiede zwischen Tumorzellen und Normalzellen sind häufig nur quantitativer Natur.
