Zusammenfassung
„Das Herausreißen einer unschuldigen Niere zur Behandlung eines einzigen, womöglich gutartigen Papilloms ist wahrhaftig eine recht grausame Behandlungsmethode …“ Mit diesem Satz entfachte Vest [20] im Jahre 1945 eine noch nicht zu Ende geführte Diskussion um die organerhaltende Chirurgie bei Nierenbecken- und Harnleitertumoren. Bei epithelialen Geschwülsten der oberen Harnwege bietet nach der herrschenden Lehrmeinung jedoch nur die radikale Nephro-Ureterektomie unter Mitnahme einer Blasenmanschette dem Patienten die größtmögliche Chance auf Heilung. Diese generelle Auffassung wurde jedoch seit 1945 durch mehrere Berichte [2,4,6,7,9,12,15,16,17,18] über großartige Erfolge konservativer Maßnahmen in Frage gestellt.
