Zusammenfassung

Die Fortschritte der chirurgischen Behandlung angeborener Herz-und Gefäßanomalien und erworbener Klappenfehler sowie die zunehmende Bedeutung der Coronarchirurgie haben Erkennung und Bedeutung von intrakardialen Verkalkungen, die lange Zeit eine röntgenologische Kuriosität darstellten, zu einer wichtigen diagnostischen Aufgabe gemacht. Das gilt insbesondere für die Wertung von Klappenverkalkungen, deren Nachweis Konsequenzen für die Wahl des chirurgischen Verfahrens besitzt. Zugleich hat die Weiterentwicklung der röntgenologischen Technik den diagnostischen Zugang zu Herzverkalkungen erheblich verbessert, so daß die Zahl der in vivo erfaßten Calcifizierungen des Herzens sich stark erhöht hat.
