Abstract

The structure and properties of directionally solidified eutectic alloys which contain γ’ (Ni3Al) particles in the matrix phase are described. Direct studies of the influence of long range order on mechanical behavior of aligned eutectics have been accomplished with a model Ag-33a%Mg eutectic alloy. The implications of these studies for high temperature alloy development are discussed.
