Summary
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) IgM antibodies can be demonstrated for only few weeks after onset of infectious mononucleosis (IM). Thus EBV IgM antibodies indicate a recent EBV infection. We looked for EBV IgM antibodies in persons with recently diagnosed Hodgkin’s disease. Only 2 of 6 patients showed EBV IgM antibodies. The EBV seems to be involved in Hodgkin’s disease in single cases only.
