Abstract
In this chapter we summarize the nomenclature and certain properties pertaining to proteins and their constituents. Additional information is readily available in standard works on biochemistry such as Fruton and Simmonds (1958), Edsall and Wyman (1958), Mahler and Cordes (1967), Dickerson and Geis (1969) and Lehninger (1970).
