Zusammenfassung

Die Pathophysiologie der oberen Harnwege ist in den letzten Jahren zu einem vielbearbeiteten und vielbeachteten Forschungsgebiet geworden, für das sich auch die Klinik in zunehmendem Maße interessiert. Bis vor etwa 25 Jahren wurden pharmakodynamische Aspekte vorwiegend am Ureterpräparat in vitro bearbeitet. Klinische Untersuchungen waren damals nur vor dem Röntgenschirm möglich. Frequenz und Fortpflanzungsgeschwindigkeit der peristaltischen Wellen konnten so zwar gemessen, aus Gründen des Strahlenschutzes aber nur während einer sehr beschränkten Periode verfolgt werden. Verständlicherweise führten diese Untersuchungen nicht zu übereinstimmenden Auffassungen. Erst die Einführung der Elektromanometrie und Elektromyographie schuf die Voraussetzungen, um auch klinische Untersuchungen zeitlich so auszudehnen, wie das für die Beurteilung von Medikamentenwirkungen notwendig ist.
