Abstract

1. In the past few years increasing importance has been placed in methods of classification and recognition applied to the problems of prognosis in medicine, geology, economics, and so on. The solution of such problems consists of two stages. In the first stage, the group of experts works out: (a) a number of features which describe the object, and elucides the accuracy of each description. Then, (b) the experts describe the classes into which objects or situations are divided.
