Foundations Problems in General Relativity

Part of the Studies in the Foundations, Methodology and Philosophy of Science book series (FOUNDATION, volume 4)

Gravity has attracted the concern and the enthusiasm of a small but enduring number of physicists, which in the last two decades has even shown signs of rapid growth. I shall attempt to explain the fascination of this subject, its role within the sweep of physics research, and comment on some current activities.
