Amyloidoses of the Thyroid

Summary

Among all endocrine glands the thyroid in particular is involved by amyloid. A case of amyloid goitre as an exceptional and rare form of secondary amyloidosis is described. Classification of thyroid amyloidosis and the pathogenesis of amyloid, especially in medullary carcinoma of the thyroid, are discussed.
