Thyroid Activity during the Perinatal Period

Abstract

It is not our purpose to review the histologic, physiologic and biochemical aspect of fetal thyroïd development. We will focus our attention on the thyroid activity of the fetus at the end of gestation and of the newborn during the first months of life. Some clinical implications will be given. This presentation is limited to data pertinent to human physiology.
