Zusammenfassung
Als Schnellfärbung wird Safranin O vor allem für pflanzliches, in Epon eingebettetes Material empfohlen [1]. Der Farbstoff bindet besser nach Fixierung in Glutaraldehyd allein, als dies nach Glutaraldehyd-Osmium-tetroxid der Fall ist. Vor allem werden Chromatinstrukturen und Zellwände dargestellt. In tierischen Geweben ist neben der Anfärbung von Kernstrukturen die Darstellung von Elastin erwähnenswert (s. §47).
