Zusammenfassung
Die Messung des Cup-Disc-Quotienten ist seit vielen Jahren (Armaly 1967) eine wohlbekannte und viel benutzte Methode in Observation von Papillen der glaukomatösen und glaukomverdächtigen Patienten gewesen. Eine Vergrößerung der Papillenexkavation ist immer sehr bedeutungsvoll, und man hat sie sogar als das „härteste Zeichen“ eines beginnenden Glaukoms bezeichnet (Spaeth 1978). Es ist jedoch möglich, daß es nicht das erste Zeichen von einem Übergang von der sog. okulären Hypertension zum Glaukom darstellt, sondern daß es sogar als ein relatives Spätzeichen betrachtet werden könnte.
