HLA Phenotypes in Patients With Herpetic Keratitis

  • Conference paper
Herpetische Augenerkrankungen

Summary

Typing for HLA-A, B, and C antigens was performed in 81 patients with herpetic keratitis, 23 of them were typed for DR antigens. The antigen frequencies of patients and healthy controls were compared. A significant association between HLA and herpetic keratitis was not detected. Nevertheless the frequencies of some HLA antigens such as A1, A3, B7, B8 and particularly DR2 and DR3 showed a remarkable increase. The small number of DR typed patients should be increased to answer the question of genetic predisposition to herpetic keratitis definitely. In addition, it would be useful to perform family studies in order to analyse haplotype frequencies.
