Abstract

The Model Interchange Format (MIF) which was developed for CemoS enables us to save all input parameters and model results in a comprehensible way. In particular the dependencies of parameters are considered as well as explanations and comments at diverse places. The MIF is a text format and hence easy to read and modify. Special parts are considered for the substance properties. Furthermore, the MIF is extendable and language independent, apart from the explanations and comments. Together with a concept for standard names the model output can be presented in many languages. A complete compiler exists for the MIF which is implemented as an awk-script (Aho, Kernighan, Weinberger, 1988).
