Zusammenfassung

Das Prinzip der Gegenpulsation wurde erstmalig 1958 von Harken als Methode zur Behandlung des Linksherzversagens vorgestellt. Man dachte an raschen Volumenentzug über Zugang durch die A. femoralis während der Systole, um gleichzeitig die Nachlast des insuffizienten Herzens zu unterstützen. Während der Diastole sollte das Blut wieder rasch rücktransfundiert werden, um eine diastolische Augmentation, zwecks erhöhter koronarer Perfusion, zu erreichen. Realisiert wurde diese Technik mittels einer externen Pumpkammer mit angeschlossenem Reservoir.
