Abstract
Melanotic malignant melanoma represents a major cause of death among skin neoplasias and its incidence is steadily increasing in Western world probably owing to changes in lifestyle which favour brief but intense exposures to sunlight, as well as due to enhanced levels of UV-B reaching the earth surface (1,2). White surgery is still the elective treatment for melanoma, alternative methods, including radiotherapy or immunotherapy, give a generally poor outcome (3).
