Abstract
Nonlinear interactions of different light modes or between light fields and atomic systems have found interest in the last decades. In the quantum description of these interactions, states without analogy to those in classical optics can occur. Optical fields with sub-Poissonian statistics, squeezing and/or antibunching are of interest for communication systems due to their noise properties of lower order. Today measurements of the optical correlation functions of second and higher order(s) can be carried out with high accuracy to prove nonclassical behaviour.
