Abstract

The terrestrial and marine abiotic and biotic compartments, between which processes and exchange take place, can be defined by three non-living systems: air, water, solid material, and a living system of flora and fauna including man. All elements of the periodic system can be found in these compartments in different concentrations. Their concentrations are regulated by chemical properties of the elements themselves and of the involved compartment matrixes.
