Zusammenfassung
Der älteste Teil der Erdgeschichte wird als Archaikum (Urzeit) bezeichnet. Er umfaßt die Zeit von der Entstehung der Erde bis etwa 2,5 Mrd. Jahre vor heute (Tab. S. 8), also eine Zeitspanne von etwa 2 Mrd. Jahren. Die Zustände auf der Erde während der ersten 700 Mio. Jahre sind bisher nicht durch Gesteinsvorkommen belegt.
