Summary

We present the modified LBI-method, called MLBI-method, for automated indexing of diagnoses based on the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED II). The MLBI-method consists of three steps — preprocessing, morphological analysis and semantic analysis — and is defined as composition of functions. We expect to achieve both an indexing and retrieval quality, good enough to use the ’System for Automated Lexicon-Based Indexing of Diagnoses Heidelberg 2’ (SALBIDH 2) based on the MLBI-method in routine.
