Abstract
In this article we briefly mention the development of technology education in former Czechoslovakia, we frame the aims of this education and we name both positive and negative features of Technical Education in the school system of socialism.
Then we deal with the consequences of the Velvet Revolution as far as the public opinion towards technology education and its realization in the process of general education is concerned. We speak of current problems of technology education in the Slovak Republic and indicate the direction of its future development. We try to suggest and defend with arguments the steps we plan to take in order to preserve and support this subject. In the end we express our belief that fruitful international contacts are inevitable in the field of technology education.
