Zusammenfassung
Die mit den neuen technischen Möglichkeiten in der Telekommunikation verbundenen hohen Erwartungen sind bislang auch durch einige Enttäuschungen nicht ins Wanken geraten. Multimediale Dienste auf breitbandiger Basis zeichnen sich am Horizont ab und lassen es plausibel erscheinen, daß in Europa der Telekommunikationssektor in volkswirtschaftlicher Hinsicht den Automobilsektor bis zum Ende dieses Jahrzehnts überholen wird. Gesichert ist dies jedoch keineswegs. Selbst wenn ein Markt für neue Netze und Dienste existiert, kann es sich als äußerst schwierig erweisen, ihn zu erschließen. Die hier liegenden spezifischen Probleme und einige Möglichkeiten, sie zu lösen, werden in diesem Beitrag diskutiert.
