Abstract

Basic problem for the use of airborne gravimetry (or, more general, kinematic gravimetry) for gravity field determination is the separation of the disturbing accelerations due to vehicle motion from the total acceleration detected from the gravimeter. The Global Positioning System GPS in its differential, kinematic mode has turned out to be the right candidate to deliver the necessary information about the vehicle trajectory. As independent control also other instrumentation such as pressure or radar altimeters can be used.
