Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss “doing the right thing”. The question is what is the right thing? In animal behaviour studies there is a consensus on this question, and I will start by outlining this. In animal behaviour studies there is no consensus as to how optimal behaviour is achieved, and I will outline some of the problems. In robotics there is no consensus about doing the right thing and I will ask what can be learned from animal behaviour.
